The First Forum on China-Africa New-type Urbanization Successfully Held in Cape Town

From November 25 to 26, 2024, the First Forum on China-Africa New-type Urbanization was held in Cape Town, South Africa. The forum was themed “New Urbanization at Multiple Scales: Perspectives from China and Africa.”

 

The event was co-hosted by the University of the Western Cape, the Institute for Urban Governance and Sustainable Development of Tsinghua University (a top think tank in Beijing), and the University of Cape Town.

 

More than 20 experts and scholars from China, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Kenya, Ghana, and other countries delivered keynote speeches and academic presentations on topics such as “Sustainable Development and Urbanization,” “Housing and Community Governance,” “Urban Transformation,” and “China-Africa Cooperation and Urbanization.” Over 50 Chinese and African faculty members and students actively participated in the discussions.
