University of the Western Cape Confucius Institute (UWC CI) is excited to announce the continuation of its classes! If you have missed out on the last term or semester, here is another opportunity to delve into the enriching journey of learning the beautiful Mandarin language, alongside cultivating mind-body balance through the ancient Chinese health-enhancing exercise, Ba Duan Jin.
Our mission is to provide a diverse educational platform that fosters cross-cultural understanding, personal growth, and holistic well-being. Our Mandarin classes are designed to suit all learners - from beginners with no prior knowledge to advanced speakers aiming to perfect their linguistic skills. Mandarin, one of the world's most spoken languages, is the gateway to understanding China's rich history, culture, and rapidly advancing modern society. Learning Mandarin can unlock numerous opportunities - from international business prospects to in-depth travel experiences and closer engagement with global issues.
Alongside language acquisition, we're thrilled to offer Ba Duan Jin classes, one of the most common forms of Chinese Qigong exercise. Often translated as "Eight Silken Movements" or "Eight Pieces of Brocade", Ba Duan Jin is a series of easy-to-learn, smooth, and continuous movements. These movements have been practised for centuries to increase physical fitness, boost energy levels, enhance concentration, reduce stress, and promote overall well-being.
Each Ba Duan Jin class will guide you through these eight sections of physical postures and movements, breathing, and meditation. The best part is it's suitable for all ages and fitness levels! So, whether you're an early riser looking to start the day with refreshing exercise or someone seeking a calming practice to unwind after a long day, our Ba Duan Jin classes are here for you.
At UWC CI, we strive to provide a welcoming and supportive environment that values learning through shared experiences. Our expert instructors are passionate about sharing their knowledge, fostering an atmosphere of enthusiasm, patience, and encouragement.
We invite you to join us in this enlightening language and physical fitness exploration journey. Enrollment is now open, and spots are filling up quickly. Take advantage of the chance to immerse yourself in an experience that bridges language, culture, and well-being. Sign up today!
