Congratulations to Sino: A Star Shines at the 22nd Chinese Bridge University Competition

We are thrilled beyond measure to announce the fantastic outcome of the 22nd edition of the Chinese Bridge University competition held at the Durban University of Technology.

Sino, our talented fifth-year Chinese Medicine student from the School of Natural Medicine at the University of the Western Cape, and a shining light of our Confucius Institute has done us immensely proud. She secured an admirable third position amongst a distinguished group of participants representing esteemed universities across the nation, including the University of Cape Town, the University of Stellenbosch, and the University of Johannesburg.

In this competition, an expansive platform where non-Chinese university students showcase their Chinese language proficiency, deep knowledge of China, and talents in Chinese-related performances, Sino was an embodiment of linguistic excellence and cultural understanding. Her journey with the Chinese language and culture, which are integral to her Chinese Medicine studies, bore fruit as she stood tall and bright at this illustrious event.

This remarkable achievement could not have been possible without the guidance and dedication of her teachers, Ms Lin and Dr Yang, whose commitment to nurturing her talent and deepening her understanding of the Chinese language and culture was evident in Sino's performance.

Sino's third-place finish is a commendation of her diligence, passion, and commitment to connecting cultures and fostering understanding, the essence of the Chinese Bridge competition. We are incredibly proud of her linguistic skills, cultural understanding, and the manner in which she represented our institute and the University.

Although the competition has ended, the journey for Sino is far from over. The memories made, the lessons learned, and the friendships forged along the way are invaluable. This experience has enriched Sino's knowledge, introduced her to peers from different walks of life, and deepened her appreciation for Chinese culture.

Let us express our heartfelt congratulations to Sino, Ms Lin, Dr Yang, and everyone involved in this wonderful achievement. Her performance serves as a glowing testament to the power of language and cultural exchange in forging a more interconnected world.
