On February 14, 2025, the Confucius Institute of Chinese Medicine at the University of the Western Cape (CI at UWC) was invited to attend the 2025 National Two Sessions Spirit Briefing, hosted by the Consulate General People’s Repiblic of China in Cape Town.
During the briefing, Consul General You Wenze provided a comprehensive interpretation of the 2025 Chinese Government Work Report, highlighting key issues such as reform, high-level opening-up, people's livelihoods, and artificial intelligence. The discussion also focused on China-Africa relations, China-South Africa relations, and bilateral cooperation. Education, as a crucial area for fostering mutual understanding and deepening cooperation, was a focal point of the discussion.
Dr Wu Changhong, the Director of the CI at UWC, delivered a speech at the event. She emphasized the significant role of language education in promoting cultural exchange and strengthening China-South Africa cooperation. She expressed her expectation for further collaboration in teacher training, academic exchange, and educational resource sharing, contributing to the advancement of China-South Africa educational cooperation.
This briefing enhanced participants' understanding of China’s development trajectory and created new opportunities for China-South Africa educational cooperation and cultural exchange.
