On March 20th, the Confucius Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine at the University of the Western Cape successfully hosted a Chinese tea culture-themed event, attracting many enthusiastic students and faculty members.
The event consisted of two main parts: a tea culture lecture and a tea tasting session. First, the Confucius Institute invited Dr. Zeng Liren, a retired faculty member from Zhejiang Normal University, to deliver a lecture on Chinese tea culture. The lecture focused on the history and development of Chinese tea culture, introducing the origins of tea and its significant role in the global trade system. Additionally, it provided a detailed analysis of tea categories, classification standards, production techniques, and unique flavors, giving participants a deeper understanding of the diversity and cultural significance of Chinese tea.
During the tea-tasting session, attendees had the opportunity to experience different types of Chinese tea, appreciating the rich aromas and layered flavors while immersing themselves in the essence of Chinese tea culture. Many participants expressed that the event not only deepened their understanding of Chinese tea culture but also sparked a greater interest in traditional Chinese culture.
This lecture and tasting event served as a cultural bridge between China and the world, allowing more people to appreciate the profound charm of Chinese tea.
