Hey there!
On the 14th of August, the Confucius Institute of Chinese Medicine at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) hosted a fascinating Chinese calligraphy seminar and workshop. And guess what? About 30 students and staff members joined in!
Where and When?
The seminar occurred at the Global Hub, Confucius Institute, B Block, Main Campus, UWC, from 11:50 AM to 12:50 PM.
Who Was There?
Two talented calligraphy professors, Prof Huang and Prof Xu from the Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics in China, led the event. They were passionate about sharing their knowledge and skills with those interested in Chinese language and culture, penmanship, and Asian art.
What Happened?
The professors studied Chinese calligraphy's history and stylistic development in China and other Asian countries. They demonstrated different artistic calligraphy styles. Everyone who attended got to enjoy some light snacks and delicious Chinese tea. It was a delightful way to spend an hour on a Monday!
Open to All
Best of all? The event was open to the entire UWC community, and admission was completely free. Students, faculty, and staff curious about Chinese culture and art were welcomed with open arms.
